Silver prices continued its long-running climb with a fifth weekly gain bringing silver coin melt values along with it. The London Fix for silver for Friday, February 3, 2012 was $33.93 an ounce.
While not as impressive as some past weekly gains, Friday’s Spot still registered an increase of $.45 from where the metal ended last week. This equates to a 1.3% jump.

The week was not without it downs though. Silver started Monday with a Fix of $33.18 an ounce, down from the previous Friday’s $33.48. It then rose on Tuesday to a fix of $33.60 and Wednesday rose even further to $33.80 an ounce. A small decline occurred on Thursday with $33.67 before climbing on Friday to the previously noted $33.93 an ounce.
Friday’s $33.93 an ounce now stands as the high for 2012 but still pales in comparison to last year’s high of $48.70 an ounce which occurred on April 28, 2011. The current low for 2012 occurred on January 3rd with $28.78 an ounce.
