Silver Coin Melt Values realized a slight increase for the last week of June as the precious metal edged up just 1% from where it was a week ago. The London Fix for Silver for Friday, June 29, 2012 was $27.08 an ounce.
In comparison, last Friday’s Fix was $26.81 an ounce – an amount which had qualified the day as the lowest Fix of the year to that point. Unfortunately, the record low did not stand for long as it was undercut earlier this week before the silver market rallied slightly.

As shown in the chart above, the four precious metals were split in their performance during the week. Both gold and silver showed increases with gold returning a respectable 2% jump up. Platinum and palladium fell during the week with palladium hit hardest at a decline of 4.9%.
Looking back at just silver for the week shows that Monday’s Fix was $26.72 an ounce, down from the previously mentioned Friday, June 22nd Fix of $26.81. Tuesday showed vast improvement with a Fix of $27.44 before Wednesday retreated to $26.835 an ounce. Thursday came in at $26.81 again before Friday’s Fix of $27.08.
Monday’s Fix of $26.72 an ounce now qualifies as the lowest Fix for 2012. The high for 2012 is traced back to February 29th when the Fix was $37.23 an ounce. Looking at a comparison between this Friday and that 2012 high shows that silver is now down $10.15 from that high, or -27.3%.
