Silver Coin Melt Values ended down for the fifth week in a row as silver continued a weekly slide started in mid-April. Silver prices also tread into new 2012 low territory for the week. However, Friday’s Fix showed a significant rally above that low. The London Fix for Silver for Friday, May 18, 2012 was $28.48 an ounce.
Weekly silver prices have been dropping since April 13, 2012 when the precious metal showed its last weekly increase (based on the London Fix each Friday) with a Fix of $32.365 an ounce – an increase of 3.5% from the week before that. Since then, the precious metal has dropped 1.8%, 2%, 4% and 4.4% each successive week.
