A quick look at the chart above shows that silver was not alone in its decline. It was joined by both platinum and palladium with gold the only one of the four to show any increase. Palladium was the hardest hit with a decline of 6.4%.

Silver actually started the week up slightly with Monday’s London Fix coming in at $32.44 (up $0.17 from the previous Friday). After that, the white metal tallied declines each successive day with the Tuesday Fix of $32.22, Wednesday came in at $31.97, Thursday’s Fix was $31.79 and Friday ended with the aforementioned $31.54 an ounce.

Friday’s Fix calculates out to be down $5.69 from the 2012 high for the precious metal established on February 29th with a Fix of $37.23 an ounce. Silver is, however, still up 9.6% from its 2012 low established on January 3rd although that increase won’t last long if the precious metal continues its slide.
