Silver Coin Melt Values Start November Up After Three Weekly Declines

The silver market improved slightly this week raising Silver Coin Melt Values along with it. This slight up trend halts successive declines realized by silver for the previous three weeks.

The precious metal rose by just 0.8% based on the Friday to Friday London Fix. That Fix for today, November 2, 2012 was $31.92 an ounce, an increase of $0.25 from last Friday’s Fix of $31.67 an ounce.

As shown in the chart above, precious metals were split for the week. Gold saw weekly declines of 1.8% with platinum following at a decline of 0.6%. Showing improvement for the week was palladium which rose 0.7% and the aforementioned silver weekly increase of 0.8%.

Silver actually was much higher during the week, but corrected down by the week’s end. The precious metal had a Fix of $31.82 an ounce on Monday, up from the aforementioned previous Friday’s Fix of $31.67. It rose again on Tuesday to $31.98 followed by a another increase on Wednesday to $32.28. A much larger increase came on Thursday when the Fix came in at $32.66. Friday’s Fix then fell to the $31.92 already mentioned.

At $31.92 an ounce, the precious metal is currently up $5.25 from the 2012 low of $26.67 an ounce. That low was set on July 12th.

The precious metal is down an almost equal amount ($5.31) from the high set on February 29th. That high was $37.23 an ounce.
