Of the four precious metals shown above, three of them showed increases for the week. The only decline was palladium which dropped a half of a percent. The three increases were led by gold with its 2.7% jump, followed by silver’s 2.4% and finally platinum’s slight increase of 0.1%.
Focusing on silver shows the precious metal started the week off down with Monday’s Fix of $26.95 compared to the previous Friday’s $27.07. Silver slid a few more cents to $26.93 on Tuesday before Wednesday’s respectable jump to $27.11. Thursday showed much stronger gains with $27.81 an ounce before Friday’s Fix of $27.73.
The 2012 low is still held by July 12th with its London Fix of $26.67. Comparing that low to this Friday’s Fix shows the precious metal up just $1.06 from that low, or 4.0%.
Comparing to the 2012 high paints a much bleaker picture. The high was established on February 29th with a Fix of $37.23. This means this Friday’s Fix is down $9.50 from that high, or 25.5%.
