Silver Set Melt Values Close November With Fifth Weekly Increase

Silver Set Melt Values showed a weekly increase again as the month of November 2012 drew to a close. This increase is the fifth in a row for positive gains for the sets based on the Friday to Friday London Fix for silver.

Silver ended the week up a very respectable 2.6% compared to last Friday’s Fix with an increase of $0.87 from that Fix. The London Fix for silver for today, November 30, 2012 was $34.28 an ounce.

For the week, the only negative seen by the four precious metals shown in the chart above came for gold. It shed approximately half a percent during the week closing at $1,726.00 an ounce. The remaining three precious metals listed all had gains with palladium rising the most with a 4.2% jump. It was followed by silver’s 2.6% increase and then platinum’s 1.8% improvement.

Looking closer into the week shows silver had a large gain on Monday coming in with a Fix of $34.08 an ounce, up from last Friday’s $33.41 by $0.67. Tuesday dropped slightly to $34.05 with a larger dip on Wednesday to $33.85. It fell again on Thursday to $33.76 before recovering on Friday to $34.28 an ounce.

At $34.28, silver is now up $7.61 from the 2012 low set on July 12th. That low was $26.67 making this week’s final Fix up 28.5% from that low.

Conversely, silver is still down from the 2012 high established on February 29th of $37.23 an ounce. Doing the math shows the precious metal still down $2.95 from that high, or 7.9%.
