Silver continued a negative slide that is now in its sixth week bringing Silver Set Melt Values down along with it along with it. However, like last week, Friday’s Fix for the precious metal realized a rally from earlier in the week where it had tread even further into negative territory. The London Fix for Silver for Friday, May 25, 2012 was $28.24 an ounce.
Looking at Friday to Friday numbers, silver has been posting negative results since April 20th. The week before that, the precious metal had a Fix of $32.365 an ounce which has not been exceeded on any trading day since.

All four precious metals in the chart above ended with negative weekly results. The hardest hit among the four was palladium with a $15 drop or a decline of 2.5%. Least damaged by the weekly results was silver with a drop of just 0.8%.
Silver bottomed for the week on Wednesday with a London Fix of $27.76 an ounce. This was after declines shown on Monday with a Fix of $28.39 an ounce (down from the previous Friday’s Fix of $28.48) and Tuesday’s Fix of $28.07. Thursday showed improvement with a Fix of $28.08 before Friday’s rally at $28.24.
Looking for the year, silver is now down $8.99 (or 24.1%) from its 2012 high established on February 29, 2012. It is up just 3.6% from the 2012 low established just the week before on May 16, 2012.
